Housing Incentive Program
The goal of the Housing Incentive Program is to encourage and promote the construction of new single family homes within the city limits of Boone, Iowa.
Incentive:
For each custom single family home or townhome built within the city limits of Boone, Iowa that meets all the qualifications below, the homeowner will receive $10,000.00 upon the submittal to the City a Certificate of Occupancy.
Custom Built Home Criteria:
- Single family or townhouse with a basement
- Must be owner occupied
- Home must be sold between $200,000 and $400,000.
- Groundbreaking must occur after May 1, 2018.
Townhomes:
- Both sides of townhomes will qualify separately.
- Each side of the townhome must meet the $200,000 - $400,000 value.
- Both sides must be owner occupied.
- Groundbreaking must occur after May 1, 2018.
Spec Homes:
- A “spec home” for this program will be defined as any house where the foundation is completed before the home has a written agreement and/or is sold.
- All “spec homes” must meet the same criteria as above for single family and townhomes.
- Incentives for the builder if the home meets the criteria:
- Refund of Building Permit Fees
- $5,000.00 of the $10,000.00 incentive, the other $5,000.00 will go to the homeowner.
Exclusions:
- This program cannot be included with any other incentives, such as: Jumpstart Boone and Development Agreements that include infrastructure.
- Does not apply to LLCs or Corporations.
- Rental Units do not qualify.
