The City of Boone Recreation Department is committed to providing recreational programs for all ages and abilities. It manages a variety of seasonal sports leagues, community events, and leisure activities, while collaborating with local organizations to enhance community wellness. Its mission is to promote safe, healthy, and enjoyable leisure experiences for Boone residents through well-organized programs and partnerships.

School's Out Holiday Movie: School's out for winter break and the fun is on! Join us for a cozy holiday afternoon at Boone City Hall Auditorium on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. for a special Holiday Movie event. Enjoy a great family holiday fil while you sip hot chocolate and snack on cookies and popcorn. Bring the whole family, kick back, and celebrate the start of winter break together!
Senior Fun Nights: Join us for Senior Fun Night—an evening filled with laughter, games, and good company! Enjoy friendly competition, lively conversation, and plenty of opportunities to connect with friends old and new. Whether you come to play, chat, or simply relax, it’s a night designed to bring joy, community, and fun for everyone. The City of Boone will provide decks of cards and board games but you're welcome to bring your own!
Senior Fun Nights will begin 12/4/25 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the City Hall Auditorium (second floor, elevator available from WEST side entrance of building). Senior Fun Nights will take place the first Thursday of the month unless it falls upon a holiday. January's Senior Fun Night will be 1/8/26.

Fireside Chat, with Coffee!: Senior social connections Wednesdays, beginning 10/29/2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Located in the Fireplace room at the Ericson Public Library (702 Greene Street).
What to expect: Friendly conversation circles, coffee/tea, and light games that spark laughter and bonds.
Connection activities: “Two-Minute Meet,” partner chat, and story swaps to build new friendships.
Why it matters: Social connection supports well-being, mood, and purpose at every age.
Weekly rhythm makes it easier to maintain meaningful ties and routines.

BlastBall: A fun introductory baseball/softball activity for 3- and 4-year-olds. Registration Closed
Youth Fishing: For beginning anglers to familiarize themselves with poles and tackle at McHose Frog Pond. Ages 8-16. Registration Closed
Cardio Dance: An all ages (minors must be accompanied by parent/guardian) dance class that will get you moving with great music and friends. This ongoing class takes place Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. in the City Hall Auditorium. There is no cost for this program.
Pickleball for beginners class: Ever wanted to try Pickleball? This class will give you the knowledge to play one of the fastest growing sports in the world! Registration Closed
