Construction Update
In regards to all construction projects and infrastructure improvements, thru traffic should avoid the construction areas while local access to properties will be maintained as much as possible. Temporary driveways to businesses may be utilized to restore access as soon as possible once construction has advanced beyond the immediate area. Water service may be disrupted periodically during the day throughout construction; however attempts will be made to provide 48 hour notice prior to doing so. Due to construction activities within the right-of-ways it is inevitable that lawns, trees, plants, and landscaping will be disturbed or removed. Measures will be implemented to minimize these impacts if possible.
Sanitary Sewer Improvements – Phase IIIA will restart on the east side of the 8th Street and Benton Street intersection and continue down 8th Street through Clinton Street. Work involves upsizing the sanitary sewer main and associated repairs. Work is expected to begin in April and last 2-3 months.
There will also be some damaged concrete replaced on 8th Street and Benton Street. It is expected that this work will result in lane closures, but roads should remain open.
The City is also working to finish design on a project to perform sanitary sewer improvements on Linn Street from Industrial Park Road through 11th Street. The City is hopeful this project will be constructed this year, however the schedule is contingent on approval from state permitting authorities.
