This morning there was a large phone line cut just east of the Boone County Hospital. As a result, the hospital, Public Health, Home Care, Boone Middle School, lifeline customers and a large area of residential customers have lost phone service. Currently the main hospital number is being answered at the Boone Police department, Home Care and Public Health main number is being answered at the adult daycare center and the calls to the Boone Middle School are being routed to the high school.

The above priority locations are estimated to be back in service by the middle of the afternoon but the non-priority and residential customers could be without service for many hours. The Qwest representative would not give me an estimation as to when all service will be restored but I have been told that it may be midnight or later.

The area involved appears to be east of Marshall Street, south of Mamie Eisenhower and north of the golf course. I am not sure how far east the outage goes and it does include DSL Internet in that area.
